A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE ART OF FOCUS BY DAN KOE

THIS IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE BOOK: THE ART OF FOCUS BY DAN KOE.

1.    THREE (3) MAIN IDEAS FROM THE ART OF FOCUS.

What does it mean to  be open minded?

To be open minded means to be willing to accept and unfazed with whatever life throws at you. To always seek a way to learn from your circumstances and  turn lemon to lemonade. Turn your pain into happiness by extracting the good lessons from it. The art of constantly seeking for what to extract will reveal more things to you with clarity. Be engaged in the moment and focus on the things within your control.

WHY DO WE NEED TO LIVE A FOCUS LIFE?

We need to live a focused life because we have limited time to live on earth. When we live and do things vaguely, we cannot fulfill our purpose. Secondly We are what we pay attention to. The information we choose to process determines the quality of our life, we cannot give what we don't have. The attention we hold, how we interpret the information and why we use it, our attention is the most important thing we should pay more attention to.

CAN FOCUS BE TRAINED?

Focus is like a muscle, it tends to expand or increase in size when you train it. you need to actively work on it. Success is the reward you receive when you train it over time. To Train your focus you need a detailed plan, system and routine. Your plan may be monthly, yearly, decade and so on, your plan will give direction of where you are going. Your system is how you will get to your direction. Your routine is your schedule. Your list of routines should include your daily activities and reviews, weekly activities and reviews.

The ability to focus your attention on a meaningful goal, hold it strong, even as distractions repel and ripple against you. It is easy. You need to constantly reflect on your progress and ask necessary questions to consolidate your effort.

“Conscious narrow focus leads to degrees of a flow state, deep work, and efficiency. We’ve all experienced this when we have clarity on facing the challenge that a task presents, one that you have the skill to complete.”

“The essence of experience, life, and science is trial and error. You cannot take ideas, opinions, or advice as law without the filter of direct experience.”
