Principles by Ray Dalio

1.    The Book in 3 Sentences:

Principles are rules that guide us in making better decisions in our lives. As we live our lives, we encounter different problems and try to solve them. How we solve the problem will enable us to create a mental map or mental model to solve subsequent and similar problems.

2. The word ‘Perfection’ does not exist, even nature do evolve. Nobody is perfect. So don't wait till you are perfect before you can do something. Move ahead, and do what you want to do without the fear of being perfect or what people will say.

3. Be open-minded along the way. It is important because it makes us open to new ideas, listen to people's opinions, and properly analyze our thoughts. Being open-minded to analyzing other people's thoughts will help you to see things from a different view.

How to achieve your goals:

Have audacious goals and write it down. Diagnose the problem or what will make you not achieve your goals. Write the possibility or ways to achieve that particular goal. Finally, put it into action.

2. Impressions :

3.   Who Should Read It?

Everyone should read it to improve their decision-making.

4.    How the Book Changed My Life?

The book has taught me to build principles for different problems to reduce the time I use to think, solve problems and use my time for creative work.

It can encourage me to take the plunge to write online without the fear of making mistakes.

It has also taught me to be open to receiving feedback and reflecting on them to make better decisions.

Finally, it reminds me of what I should pay attention to when I want to employ people to work for the company. They should be on their specific task.

5. My Top 3 quote

“Learning to be radically transparent is like learning to speak in public: While it’s initially awkward, the more you do it, the more comfortable you will be with it. This has been true for me.”

“There is nothing more important than understanding how reality works and how to deal with it. The state of mind you bring to this process makes all the difference. I have found it helpful to think of my life as if it were a game in which each problem I face is a puzzle I need to solve. By solving the puzzle, I get a gem in the form of a principle that helps me avoid the same sort of problem in the future. Collecting these gems continually improves my decision making, so I am able to ascend to higher and higher levels of play in which the game gets harder and the stakes become ever greater.”

“I learned that getting more out of life wasn’t just a matter of working harder at it. It was much more a matter of working effectively because working effectively could increase my capacity by hundreds of times.”
