How To Find Your God Given Purpose In Life

How To Find Your God Given Purpose In Life

I want to focus today on the importance of knowing our purpose and then taking steps to fulfil our purpose.

Some years ago, I was confused about how to know my God-given purpose in life.

I really want to fulfil the purpose God created me for. I was asking myself if I was wasting my life. If my actions reflect what God wants?  After I heard this word, "What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life? " I thought of how to live a fulfilled life.

I really desire my passion and I want it to align with God's purpose for my life.

I always remember these questions: Why did God make me? What did God want me to do for him? If you find yourself confused and struggling to find your God-given purpose in life, you're not alone. I want to share some insights I learned while seeking help from my relatives, parents, religious leaders and others.

We often link our accomplishments to ourselves, to our hard work. That is wrong because God made us and he gave us all these natural abilities to do things. He wants us to know him, love him, serve him, be happy with him forever and acknowledge him as the supreme lord. Psalms 91:14 God says, “I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as Lord. And Isaiah 43:7 "They are my own people,  and I created them to bring me glory.”

5 Steps to Find Your God GIven purpose in life.

  1. Pray to God

  2. In the Bible

  3. In your Dream

  4. God speak directly to you

  5. Put it into action

1. Pray To God

If you want to know your purpose on earth, you should ask God through prayer, He is our creator, and he has reason for creating us. The Bible says, “It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone's life is with him.” You won’t discover your life’s meaning by looking within yourself. You might have tried that already. You didn’t create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for! God created us for a purpose, We have a divine destiny, and Our life is not by accident. God knew us before we were born and he's put gifts and Talents in us, he has given us ideas and creativity.

So when you want to know your purpose you should ask your creator why he made you. I remember what God said in Genesis 1:26, Let us make man in our image. After our likeness, let them have Dominion over all animals and things upon the earth. So we are made in the image and likeness of the lord.

If you were given an invention you had never seen before, you wouldn’t know its purpose, and the invention itself wouldn’t be able to tell you either. You have to pray to God for direction. Only the creator or the owner’s manual could reveal its purpose and the manual for direction is the Bible.

Ask God through your prayer, he will reveal what he wants you to do.  Ask him to teach you how to live your life. He will surely give you an answer  John 14:14-15

If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it. If you love me, you will obey my commandments.

2. In the Bible

The Bible is God's words and it gives us more knowledge about God.  I have read many books that suggest ways to discover the purpose of my life. All of them are classified as “self-help” books. They give steps to personal development such as: considering your dreams, clarifying your values, setting some goals, and figuring out what you are good at. Aim high, think big. Go for it! Be disciplined. Believe you can achieve your goals. Involve others. Never give up. These recommendations often lead to great success but not purpose and fulfilment of life.

In my own experience, my aunts directed me to hear from God. She told me that God wanted me to work for him. I was like how did she know that? She told me that I should fast. I think it is three days or one day from 6 am to 12 pm. After Fasting she told me to pray. she told me to place my both hands on the Bible and open it. It was Matthew I can't remember the chapter. it is about different kinds of sins. After this, I asked myself what the chapter meant and how could i relate this to what God to me to do. After that day I observed a voice in my head, that gave me the answer to my question. The inner voice explains the meaning of that chapter to me. He says I should avoid all those sins in my life. I told myself if God wanted anything from me, he should speak to me directly. I did what my aunt taught me again, I did three days of fasting 6 am to 12 pm on my own. When I opened the Bible I saw a call for repentance as the topic of that verse. I was so confused about what to do…

3. In our dream

God reveals how our future will be. Remember the story of Joseph in the Bible how he dreamt when he was gathering grain in the fields with his brothers. Joseph's bundle of grain stood tall. But his brother's bundles of grain bowed down to Joseph's. God revealed what will happen to Joseph in future and it came to pass. For more insight about the story of Joseph click here.

God reveals himself to us through our dreams. We need to pray for understanding because most dreams may have different meanings.

Remember the story of Samuel, how God called him while he was sleeping.

4. God speaks directly to us:

God speaks to us, the little voice we hear in our heads. God speaks to us in our minds with the little voice we hear in our heads.

After I got that message from the bible. I start or recognise this particular voice within me that keeps directing me.  Whenever I am alone, he is always there with me. The voice was telling me people's thoughts. I do ask them to confirm if what I said is correct. It is always correct.

Pastor Joel Osteen talks about the tiny voice that always speaks within us. He said it is the voice of the lord and I truly believe it. But you need to understand how the subconscious mind works. That is what the devil uses to manipulate us. If we always keep negative taught to ourselves  devil will capitalism on it

5. Put it into action

There is something that you can excel in. You have all this potential on the inside but it's not going to come out unless you start tapping into it. Too many people today or not really fulfilled they just go into the world to make a living, with a job they don't even like and not pursuing their dreams and desires that God put in their heart. Paul says Romans 12:6-7 "So we are to use our different gifts in accordance with the grace that God has given us. If our gift is to speak God's message, we should do it according to the faith that we have; If it is to serve, we should serve; if it is to teach, we should teach"

Do the things God has revealed to you with faith. Believe in it and hold it as your true identity.  Do what you are passionate about with reverence to the lord. Acknowledge the lord as your lord and savior and all will be well with you.   God can create you with strength and potential. Focus on your strength. In all things you do and think, reverence the lord.

You can do all not things through Christ who strengthens you.

You have to do your part to get it out and I want to challenge it today to be more determined than ever that you are going to get focused and start taking steps toward the dreams and desires that God put in your heart.
