The Problem With School
The Problem With School
Schools around the world are working hard to modernize and change the way they teach.
They are trying to prepare their students to face the world.
Schools are set up to break things into parts, which is why we have different subjects like chemistry, English language, math, biology and others. We look into each of them in order to understand what the world is like. As Aristotle says, “The whole is more than the sum of its part.'' It is the connection between the different subjects, between the different parts and the relationship between them that really signifies how something actually works.
Problem
School is one thing, education is another thing and making money is another thing. They don't always overlap. The school system doesn't want us to learn about money; they just want good employees that will work in different sectors. If you look at the school system, it's the opposite of what it takes to be successful in real life. Oh Boy! I wish we were taught in school how things work in reality.
I think the school system kills most children's spirit of learning, and their creativity has been crushed inside of them. Most of us go to school in excitement. I'm going to learn and it's going to be great. Then the teacher says, “Sit down and shut up don't talk, we don't care about what you're interested in.” instead of finding out the child's potential and interest.
The system is like this; don't make a mistake, do as you're told, take tests by yourself, don't cooperate, do it on your own and there is always only one right answer. While in right there are a lot of solutions to a problem. When some students graduate from school, they are always paralyzed and scared of taking risks in order not to make mistakes. Because they try everything on their own. You don't know how to cooperate, there's no Synergy or brainstorming.
Recommendation
You have to reprogram and re-orient yourself once you graduate, so you can find out what excites you. You have to be curious about the world you are living in. Albert Einstein said, “Do not grow old, no matter how long you live. Never cease to stand like curious children before the Great mystery in which we were born." We need to be open and willing to learn what we don't know.
Listen, learn from people, learn from your mistakes, absorb the lessons and transcribe what you've learned.
Take reference to things you come across. Google everything you come across. Google your dreams, Google your problems. Don't even ask a question without Googling it. It may give the answer or lead you to possible questions.
Read both fiction and nonfiction books, write the books you love, read and learn new things. Read bibliographies. It’s not the book you start with, it’s the book that leads you. Whether you went to school or not, you should always study.
